Trip to Banff.

I went to Banff with my cousin, my Grandma and some other members of my family. When we got there we went down to Banff town Centre to visit the sweet shop; it was amazing because of all the different sweets that we don’t get in England. On the way back we saw a moose, a dragon and a bear that had been carved out of ice.
At night we went swimming in the lodge hot tub where we could see the mountains.

The following day we went to the mountains to go snowboarding. I was really excited as I was going in a competition that evening and it was my first ever Canadian competition. But first we played on the park and did some riding.

I was also excited about the competition, The BackYard Rail Jam, because my cousin Tessa was going to compete too. It was her first ever competition and she was entering in girls u16 ski. We had lots of fun riding and we both picked up 1st place.

A few days later I went down to the Canadian Olympic Park to have a lesson in Half Pipe, because that’s what I want to do most of all. When we got there I waited eagerly for my instructor and was really excited to find out I had two. We went into the mini pipe first to get used to it, then we hit the super pipe. I was a little bit nervous at first but after a bit I was fine and it was awesome. I learnt loads of new stuff and at the end of the lesson they asked if I would like to do a competition, the Alberta Snowboard Series 2, the following day. I really wanted to do it so We travelled back up on the friday with my Grandma, Tessa and my Mum. My Grandma had never seen me compete before and I really wanted to do my best to show her what I can do. The competition was two runs in the half pipe, and I did some methods, 360’s and switch 360’s. When the winners were announced I was amazed to here that I had claimed 2nd place in the girls catogory. I was really happy as I have only ever been in a halfpipe once before in Laax.
